Prawit leaves for Laos for Asean retreat | Bangkok Post: news

(Bangkok Post file photo)Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon left on Tuesday morning to attend an Asean Defence Minister Meeting (ADMM) retreat in Vientiane, Laos, on Nov 16-17. Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantrawanich, the defence spokesman, said the meeting will discuss the issues of security, terrorism, transnational crime and cooperation among the 10 Asean member countries. At the meeting, Laos will hand over the chairmanship of ADMM to the Philippines. There will also be a meeting between Asean defence ministers and the defence minister of Japan, as a dialogue partner, to expand cooperation and develop Asean potential in response to security challeges in the region.
